What attracted us to Debbie was her local presence in the Chatham market where we were focused, and her record of success which was very apparent. Debbie encompasses all of the traits that we felt were important in embarking on this very big life decision. She is extremely trustworthy and has an intimate knowledge of the area, the market and all of the sellers who are operating in that area (having worked with many of them before herself). This was pivotal when it came to putting in an offer and negotiating. The sellers on the other side of the deal knew Debbie, trusted her and were confident in our transaction, which went a very long way when it came to accepting our deal (of which there were multiple bids). Debbie also had a vast knowledge of contracts and deal language and she was able to include some very important parameters which added increased protections for us.
In addition to completing the deal, Debbie’s demeanor is what we appreciated most. Debbie has established herself as the premier agent in the area because she is extremely hard working and ambitious. However, while the real estate industry as I have experienced it can be somewhat aggressive, Debbie was extremely patient with us, often saying “don’t worry, we will find you your new home no matter how long it takes.” It took us probably over a year on and off to find the right place, but Debbie never pushed us and was always welcoming of us to come out and check out some new homes.
If you are considering a move out to Chatham or the surrounding towns, I would highly recommend engaging with Debbie and her team. “We had a wonderful experience with Debbie in our home purchase in Chatham. We had been looking for about 6 months and went through many ups and downs. Debbie was there through it all and was always very encouraging. During the winter, when there was hardly any inventory, Debbie always had her eye out for us. The minute something came on the market we would hear from Debbie. Finally, one day, Debbie contacted us about a home that had not even hit the market yet. It was new construction and had EVERYTHING we were looking for. We saw it before anyone else did and jumped at the opportunity to buy it. The builder initially wanted to raise the price and go to market to see what he could get – and I believe if he did, he would have gotten way more than what we paid. But, Debbie worked hard to get him to accept our offer and not raise the price on us. We closed in a matter of weeks.
Debbie has not only the resources to execute a transaction smoothly, but she knows how to negotiate. In a hot market like Chatham, that is so important! She also is very calm throughout the entire process, even when things go horribly wrong (like they did for the first house we tried to buy). She brings perspective into a situation and stays very objective.
Finally, Debbie was very responsive. There were times when I would call her and ask to see a home at the last min. If she couldn’t make it, she would make sure someone from her team could. And everyone on her team is great. We got to know them very well! I firmly believe we would not be in Chatham today, in a house that is perfect for us, if it were not for Debbie. During our house hunting, we looked at countless houses – Debbie was completely accommodating to our hectic schedule, and endlessly patient with us. There were four houses that we bid on: one that we didn’t win and the other three that we later decided we didn’t want to go through with.
